Mineral oil is a common additive that has caused a lot of noise. Is mineral oil as carcinogenic as the rumor said? Let's take everyone to get an in-depth understanding:

Basically, mineral oil is a kind ofmixture,It is refined from petroleum and contains many substances such as branched chain alkanes, naphthenics, aromatics, etc., with a boiling point of about 300 to 600 degrees Celsius.

In the past, due to the underdevelopment of science and technology, mineral oil was often made through basic simple refining and was used in a very wide range of industrial production processes.Lubricant(Such as: engine oil, gear oil, etc.), the other part isNon-lubricantUses (such as printing ink additives, agricultural spraying oil, etc.); although these mineral oils are usually not ingested by us, they may be caused by high temperature vaporization and high-speed friction during the manufacturing or application process. And expose the staff to the "mineral oil mist"!

Later studies began to find that certain special occupations have long-term exposure to mineral oil. In this job, relatively many people suffer from skin cancer and testicular cancer; this fact is confirmed by large-scale research statistics. :

Unrefined, simply refined mineral oil is a first-class carcinogen (skin, testicular cancer)

However, for other cancers, no association with mineral oil exposure was found. Exposure of unrefined or crude mineral oil(Usually special occupational exposure) is confirmed to haveCarcinogenicityof!

Whether highly refined mineral oil is carcinogenic is still inconclusive.

Is mineral oil a carcinogen? With the advancement of science and technology, the refining process of mineral oil has been taken to a higher level, and its application level is wider. It seems that mineral oil is found in skin care products, food, daily toiletries, etc., but so far, relevant research is about " The carcinogenicity of "refined mineral oil" is still inconclusive.
