What I want to share with you today is a topic that has been widely discussed for a long time:
Are dairy products good for the body? ? ?
Perhaps everyone will find it strange that since we were young, we have always been taught to drink more milk and replenish cheese, so how come we have this issue? Let me clarify for everyone here. The benefits of dairy products that are often mentioned in the past are that they are rich in calcium, which is helpful for the physical development of children or the bone maintenance of adults. However, the whole dairy products themselves The amount of saturated fat is very high, and past studies have shown that saturated fat seems to be related to LDL (bad cholesterol, please refer to past articles [Conquer blood fat-lower bad cholesterol LDL (part 1)】) and cardiovascular disease are related, therefore, the intake recommendations for dairy products have begun to be controversial.
In response to this issue, The Lancet International Journal published a paper in 2018: "Association of dairy intake with cardiovascular disease and mortality in 21 countries from five continents (PURE): a prospective cohort study"May be part of the answer to this issue.
The scope of the research covers all kinds of people in 21 countries, with more than 130,000 people enrolled. Through questionnaires, it has been tracked from 2003 to 2018 to complete this prospective study. During the period, we recorded the dietary frequency, dosage, occurrence and death of various diseases, etc. of all subjects, and after collating all the data, we found answers that were very different from those in the past literature. The results are summarized as follows:
milk
Daily intake of "groups with more than 1 serving" is compared to "groups with intake of less than 0.5 servings"
“Total mortality + incidence of cardiovascular disease","Incidence of pure cardiovascular disease"Of
Risk ratioallSignificant decline.
Yogurt
Daily intake of "groups with more than 1 serving" is compared to "groups with intake of less than 0.5 servings"
“Total mortality + incidence of cardiovascular disease","Net total mortality","Incidence of pure cardiovascular disease"Of
Risk ratioallSignificant decline.
cheese
Daily intake of "groups with more than 1 serving" is compared to "groups with intake of less than 0.5 servings"
“Total mortality + incidence of cardiovascular disease","Net total mortality","Incidence of pure cardiovascular disease"Of
The risk is slightly lower than the average, but there is no significant difference.
cream
Daily intake of "groups with more than 1 serving" is compared to "groups with intake of less than 0.5 servings"
“Total mortality + incidence of cardiovascular disease","Net total mortality","Incidence of pure cardiovascular disease"Of
The risk is slightly higher than the average, but there is no significant difference.
Supplementary information:
1 portion of milk-244 g (about 1 small cup)
1 serving of yogurt-244 g (about 1 small cup)
1 serving of cheese─ 15 g (about 1 slice)
1 part of cream-5 g (about 1 teaspoon)
From the above research results, we can get:
1. Overall,The intake of dairy products has no obvious risk to mortality or cardiovascular disease incidence.
2. Consuming more milk or yogurt can reduce mortality or cardiovascular disease.
3. Ingesting a larger amount of cheese or cream has no significant effect on mortality or cardiovascular incidence.
Therefore,The intake of dairy products seems to be an eating habit worth promoting! However, due to the problem of ethnic differences in cross-national studies, and some more detailed systematic errors are not discussed here, perhaps dairy products do not directly have health-promoting effects, but because the substitution of food further reduces the harm from other foods. More data will be needed for reference in the future!
